Defending champions Thailand U-22 recorded an important victory against the Philippines in 2017 SEA Games men’s football at Selayang Stadium on Tuesday.
The Young War Elephants started the match brightly but wasn’t able to take control in the opening period.
In fact, the Philippines should have taken the lead in the 24th minute, but Javier Augustine failed to put the ball into the back of the net despite the Thailand goalkeeper was already beaten.
Thailand made the Philippines pay for the miss shortly after as Kevin Deeromram’s cross found Montree Promsawat who headed home in the 28th minutes.
The 19-year-old Deeromram was also the architect of Thailand’s second goal, as his cross from the left was volleyed home by Sittichok Kannoo.
