Ten-man Indonesia U-22 hold Vietnam to goalless draw

Indonesia U-22 ground out a hard-fought goalless draw in their third game of 2017 SEA Games group stage against Vietnam U-22 on Tuesday night.

The Young Garuda will be pleased with the point, after playing with only 10 men for almost a half-hour, when Hanif Sjahbandi was dismissed in the 63rd minute for foolishly lashed out Ho Tuan Tai.

Vietnam dominated possession thereafter but were unable to convert their chances despite there was a double blow for Luis Milla’s side when solid goalkeeper Satria Tama was soon forced off with an injury.

Tuan Tai had the best opportunities to put Vietnam ahead in the stoppage time, but his close-range shot was brilliantly thwarted onto the bar by substitute keeper Kartika Ajie.

Indonesia will face Cambodia in the final game of Group B, while Vietnam will take on Thailand in a crucial encounter to determine semi-final places.
