Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) president Edy Rahmayadi suggested that Indonesia performed better that Thailand despite recorded a 1-1 draw in the opening game of 2017 SEA Games.
Thailand opened the score early in the first half after a mistake by Persiba Balikpapan goalkeeper Kartika Ajie.
But, Indonesia responded in a good display in the second half and dominated the game until Septian David Maulana scored the equaliser from the spot.
“The result is 1-1 but if we saw the game I think we performed better. I don’t explain (the opinion) in an analysis version,” Edy told reporters.
Edy also hoped that the Young Garuda could get three points from Philippines game on August 17, in the same day when Indonesian celebrate Independence Day.
“We have to win against Philippines, no reason (to lose)!” he said.
