Thailand U22 captain Chenrop Samphaodi in doubt ahead of opening SEA Games match

Thailand U22 coach Worrawoot Srimakha is looking forward to winning start over Indonesia in his team’s first group stage match of the SEA Games on Wednesday afternoon.

However, things have not gone according to plan of Worrawoot as he has to face injury worries of his players before kicking off their title defending campaign on Wednesday.

“I have already made up my mind to the starting line-up, but we may be forced to make a change or two. We need to check on some players before the match. [Captain] Chenrop Samphaodi has an injury which is slightly painful,” the 45-year-old coach said to Bangkok Post.

On the other hand, Thai team have to face a tough task in rainy Malaysia, which is the same weather condition with the 0-0 tie with Indonesia in the Asian Cup qualifier last month at the Supachalasai Stadium.

“While we were training today, it rained and we don’t know whether it will come down again during the match. But the pitch here is almost the same as the grounds in Thailand because the grass has small blades,” Worrawoot said.
