Filipino side Ceres-Negros have recorded a 2-0 victory over Home United to win the AFC Asian Cup ASEAN Zone final 3-2 on aggregate.
The home side started brightly and opened the score after just two minutes when Iain Ramsay laid the ball to Jose Porteria, who guided it into the top corner.
Ceres had a chance to double their lead later in the first half when Home United’s Abdil Qaiyyim handled the ball in the penalty area, but striker Fernando failed to convert the resulting penalty, sending the ball over the crossbar.
Eventually, Ceres got the reward they deserved after long periods of constant pressure when Manuel Ott struck an outstanding free-kick from 30 yards out, finding the top right corner.
Home United pressed forward in the second half to find an away goal, but their best chance was when Stipe Plazibat struck the top of the woodwork as Ceres held out to a 2-0 victory.
