Chinese investor denies plan to buy stakes of Manchester United

Chinese company Ping An Insurance Group has denied reports that they have been in discussions to buy a stake in Premier League giants Manchester United.

Chairman and CEO Ma Mingzhe has never owned any shares in the club, said Sheng Ruisheng, spokesman of Ping An on Monday, Chinese news site Global Times reported.

Moreover, Sheng stressed that as a listed company, Ping An’s information should be released in the form of official announcements, not rumors.

According to the British newspaper Sunday Times, an unnamed Chinese billionaire has expressed interests in buying a stake in the Manchester United Football Club.

Reportedly, the buyer has contacted some of Manchester United’s independent shareholders in an attempt to purchase a holding in the English Premier League club.

Reports also said that several negotiators, working on behalf of the Chinese billionaire, have been in touch with Manchester United shareholders in the past few weeks.
