V-League player to serve 8-match ban for violent tackle

Defender Sam Ngoc Duc has been banned for eight games and fined VND 30 million (USD 1,400) for violent conduct during the V. League game between his Ha Noi FC side and Hai Phong FC on Saturday.

According to Bong Da Newspaper, the ban has been announced by The Disciplinary Board of Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on Tuesday.

In the 2-0 win over rival Hai Phong FC on Saturday, Hanoi’s Sam Ngoc Duc purposively fouled Nguyen Anh Hung with a horror tackle that left the Hai Phong midfielder in serious pain.

The football governing body also ordered Duc to pay the medical bills for Hung’s injury and surgeries.

Duc can submit an appeal his suspension, however, if the ban is upheld, it would mean that the 25-year-old would miss most of the 2017 V-League season since he cannot return until the 24th round.
