Thai League T1 Ratchaburi FC have officially announced their signing to Congolese defender Joel Sami from French Ligue 2 outfit Orléans.
The French-born defender decided to join the Dragons in the second leg of Thai League in order to replace the club captain, Carlos Santos, who faces a long-term injury lay-off.
“I don’t know much about Thai football. I watched Ratchaburi play Bangkok United recently and feel the pace of play here is very fast,” said Sami, as quoted by Bangkok Post. “I hope I can help strengthen the team’s defense.”
Joel Sami was born in France but the defender is eligible to represent DR Congo on international stage. In his career, the 32-year-old has played for Spanish club Valencia and French side Nancy.
