Vietnam national team head coach Nguyen Huu Thang has announced the 28-man roster for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Jordan.
Seven of the Vietnam U20 team, which has recently participated in the FIFA U20 World Cup tournament, have been called up to the senior team for the first time, including Nguyen Quang Hai and Ha Duc Chinh.
The Young Golden Stars have made history by making their debut in an 11-a-side FIFA competition for the first time in the country’s history.
Despite failing to reach the knock-out stage, Vietnam U20’s campaign is widely praised as the team secured their first ever point after a closely contested game with New Zealand.
Vietnam will take on Jordan at home on 13 June in their second match of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualification. The Golden Star previously held Afghanistan to a 1-1 draw back in March.
