In Photos: Vietnam U-20 tasted defeat as France U-20 coast into next round

France waltzed into the last 16 of the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup thanks to a 4-0 win over ten-man Vietnam, with Jean-Kevin Augustin getting a brace.

The European champions should have been in front inside five minutes, but Augustin opted for an audacious ‘Panenka’ style penalty and saw it cannon back off the bar.

However, they were not left waiting long, as Marcus Thuram rose highest to power a header beyond goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung.

Augustin was then presented with the chance to make amends and doubled France’s tally with a tidy finish after a Thuram’s neat through ball.

He doubled his tally right on half-time, exchanging passes with Ludovic Blas before thumping France into the break well into the lead.

Denis Poha ended an elegant fourth, Blas again on assist duty, placing his strike over the keeper from 20 yards out. A second yellow for Tran Dinh Trong hardly helped matters for Vietnam, but the margin remained at four.
