Midfielder Phan Thanh Hau has officially been ruled out of the coming U-20 World Cup in South Korea.
The 20-year-old suffered a ligament injury and could not recover in time to make the final squad, according to reports from Vietnam.
This news is rather disappointing for Vietnam U-20 head coach Hoang Anh Tuan, as he previously lost midfielders, Bui Tien Dung and Thai Quy to other injuries.
Argentina U-20 also lost an important player in a friendly match against Vietnam U-22.
Striker Lautaro Martinez was stretched off after a colliding with Vietnamese centre-back Tran Dinh Khuong.
It is expected that Martinez will be sidelined for a few weeks and is likely to miss out on the 2017 U-20 World Cup, as the tournament kicks off next week.
19-year-old Martinez is a hot prospect of Racing Club and made his presence noticeable by netting 5 goals in the 2017 South American Youth Football Championship.
