Diego Maradona’s contract with Al-Fujairah revealed

Al-Fujairah FC president Naser Al Yamahi revealed today that Diego Maradona will be with the club for until May of next year after the Argentine penned a one-year contract yesterday.

Al-Fujairah will also look for fitness coaches and other general coaches to fill the vacancies at the club.

They hoped Maradona could lead the to promotion to the pro league.

The decision to appoint Maradona is based on the board of members directions who ordered to do whatever it takes to build a strong team.

It is the 56-year-old’s first job since he was sacked as manager of UAE side Al Wasl in July 2012.

Al-Fujairah tweeted a picture of Maradona holding the club’s shirt yesterday as the official announcement.

“I want to tell you that I am the new coach of Al-Fujairah SC, in the second division of the United Arab Emirates,” Maradona added on his Facebook page.

Maradona helped Argentina win the World Cup as a player in 1986 and managed his country between 2008 and 2010.

The Argentine previously agreed on a big money move to become the new ambassador of the Chinese Super League.
