Indonesian side Bali United have signed experienced Dutch attacker Nick van der Velden on a one-year-deal for Liga 1 this season.
The 35-year old, who can operate either as a striker or any of either three secondary striker positions, becomes Serdadu Tridatu’s marquee signing.
Van der Velden was free agent after being released by Scottish Premier League club Dundee United this month and delayed his decision to hang up his boots in order to join Bali United.
The Amsterdam-born player started his career in the youth ranks at Ajax, but left before making his debut to sign for RKC Waalwijk in 2006.
He previously also had spells with Dordrecht, NEC Nijmegen, FC Groningen, Willem II and AZ Alkmaar, where he won the 2008–09 Dutch Eredivisie title under Louis van Gaal’s guidance.
