AFC Champions League: Lekhwiya come from behind to beat Esteghlal Khouzestan

Qatari outfit Lekhwiya were trailing their Iranian opponents after only nine minutes into the match after Aloys Nong fired home from Hassan Beyt Saeed’s cross.

Nam Tae-hee was the man of the hour as he scored one and assisted another to complete an impressive comeback for his side.

Nam scored in the 35th minute to equalise, before setting up Almoez Ali for the winner.

The result leaves Lekhwiya top of Group B with 8 points, one point clear of Esteghlal in second.

In the other Group B clash, Al Jazira played out to a goalless draw with Al Fateh at Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Al Fateh are in third place on five points, two behind Esteghlal, who occupy the final qualification spot.

Al Jazira, on the other hand, are rock bottom with just one point from four matches, effectively eliminating them from the competition.

Meanwhile, Carlos Eduardo scored the only goal from the spot to give Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal the win against Al Wahda of the UAE in their Group D encounter.

In the other match of Group D, Persepolis were left to rue several missed chances after drawing 0-0 with Al Rayyan at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran.

These results see Al-Hilal move to the top of Group D on eight points, one ahead of Al Rayyan, while Al Wahda are rock bottom with just one point from four matches and already out of the competition.

Al Rayyan in second place with seven points, followed by Persepolis in third place two points adrift.
