Wuhan Zall sack Ciro Ferrara after winless start into new season

Wuhan Zall have parted company with head coach Ciro Ferrara just two games into the new China League One campaign.

The sacking comes as the second-tier Chinese side took only one points from their first two league games despite huge investment in recruiting star players.

“We can confirm the termination of the collaboration with Mr. Ferrara. The club thanks him for his contribution to Wuhan football and wishes him every success in the future,” a club officer said.

The 50-year-old former Juventus tactician becomes the first managerial departure in the top three divisions in China this season.

Ferrara joined Wuhan Zall late last season and steered club to league survival after a string of positive results. But his first full campaign in charge proved disastrous following two winless games.
