Melbourne Victory striker Besart Berisha is all geared up to make his first appearance for Kosovo national team in next month’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against Iceland.
The 31-year-old will play for the country of his birth, which only became a FIFA member in 2016, after switching his allegiance from Albania.
“At this stage it looks like I’m going to go – my first game to play for Kosovo,” Berisha said.
“So for me it’s a very exciting time because I decided to go and I hope I have a great time. I was born there and they need my help so I think it’s time to go.”
Berisha, who scored 16 goals in the A-League this season, has previously represented Albania 17 times in international games.
