Oscar delighted at debut Shanghai SIPG goal

Shanghai SIPG’s new signing Oscar was delighted to get on the scoresheet on his competitive debut in a 3-0 victory over Thailand club Sukhothai.

The former Chelsea star scored the opening goal for Chinese Super League side in the 34th minute with a right-foot shot from the centre of the box to the bottom left corner.

Elkeson netted the second goal five minutes later and an unfortunate own goal to Kiattisak Toopkhuntod after the break was enough to give Andres Villas-Boas’ side a place in the Asian Champions League group stage.

“It’s just one game but we played well. It is our first [competitive] game of the season, I think we will play better in the next game,” said the 25-year-old midfielder in post-match interview.

SIPG will play in the Group F of the Asian Champions League this season where they will meet Western Sydney Wanderers, Urawa Red Diamonds and FC Seoul.
