Ivory Coast international midfielder Cheick Tiote has signed a deal to play for Chinese second division club Beijing Enterprises, according to an announcement made by the club.
No details of the deal were given by the capital club when making the announcement on the club’s social network accounts.
Previously, Tiote was expected to join Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng, but Beijing Enterprises had made a surprise move and signed him just before the end of the transfer window in China.
Tiote joined Newcastle United from Twente in 2010. The 30-year-old footballer played 138 league matches for the English club, scoring just one goal.
