Yuya Kubo scores a stunning goal in debut match for Gent

Japanese youngster Yuya Kubo has scored a stunning free kick in his debut match for Belgian top-flight club KAA Gent.

In the 53rd minute of the league match against leaders Club Brugge, the 23-year-old midfielder curled a brilliant 20-meter free kick into the top corner to open the score for the Buffalos.

Kubo’s performance for the Belgian club was widely lauded as an “excellent debut”, considering the fact that it came only four days after the club announced the signing of the 23-year-old striker.

The Japanese striker signed a three-and-a-half year contract to play for Gent after spending three seasons with Swiss club Young Boys. He also represented Japan at international levels, making debut for the Blue Samurai against Oman in the Kirin Challenge Cup 2016.
