Former Liverpool striker Suarez has been the subject of speculation over a summer move having entered the final year of his contract at the Nou Camp and reports from Spain have it that David Beckham’s MLS franchise Inter Miami have made an offer to Barcelona star as they target a marquee signing.
Still in prolific form, the 33-year-old scored 19 goals in all competitions for Barca this season, as well as posting 12 assists and if he plays in 60 per cent of games for the Blaugrauna next season he will earn himself another 12 months with the La Liga giants.
The MLS franchise – part-owned by Manched United legend David Beckham are targeting Suarez because they believe the Uruguay star will be popular with Miami’s Hispanic community besides his goal-scoring prowess, according to Mundo Deportivo. However, the Spanish publication reports that the forward intends to stay at Barca and will aim to trigger the extra 12-month extension.
Suarez has been at Barcelona the last six seasons, having joined the Catalan giants in a £74million transfer from Liverpool, helping Barca to four La Liga titles, and also to a quadruple in 2015 when they won the league crown, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup.
The striker was at Liverpool for three-and-a-half seasons, helping the Reds win the League Cup in 2012 and also winning after signing from Ajax in January 2011. He was Liverpool’s player of the year for two successive campaigns, and won the Premier League’s golden boot award during the 2013/14 season when Brendan Rodgers’ side narrowly missed out on winning the title.
