Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min will begin his mandatory military service in his country South Korea despite ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
But since Premier League has been suspended until further notice, Son would be able to complete his military service at his home country.
The 27-year-old was originally meant to serve 21 months in military but earned an exemption when he won gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games.
Since recovering from fractured hand, Son returned to South Korea at the end of March and currently in quarantine before beginning his service later this month.
“The club can confirm that Son Heung-Min will commence his mandatory military service in South Korea this month,” Spurs said in a statement
“Our medical staff are in regular contact as he concludes his recovery after fracturing his arm in our 3-2 win against Aston Villa on Feb. 16 and continues to train.”
Son would return to London following the conclusion of his military service in May.
