The famous head-butt incident involving Zinedine Zidane and Marco Materazzi has been retold once again as a referee banned for a year after he head-butted a goalkeeper, despite already sending him off during the 8th division match in Italy.
According to ANSA news agency, it happened in a match between Borgo Mogliano and Montottone in Macerata, on Feb 1.
The referee, Antonio Martiniello brandished a red card to Borgo Mogliano’s goalkeeper Matteo Ciccioli as the home side won 3-1.
For the first time in Italian football – a referee has been issued with a 1 year ban 😂

As they met outside of the changing room, Ciccioli seek an explanation from the referee, instead Martiniello head-butted the goalkeeper, who was ended up in hospital to treat his injuries.
The ban will prevent him from officiating any game for the next year. He is also not allowed to enter the facilities of teams in the top three league of Italian football, minor and amateur leagues, as well as matches involving the Italy national team.
He only need to explain to the goalkeeper…
