South Korea 2-0 Germany: 5 things we learned

4.South Korea deserves the credit for taking the game to Germany

Shin Tae-yong will have been delighted with his team today as they bounced back from two poor results with a phenomenal performance against Germany.

Defensively they were solid. At the other end, they were wasteful but did eventually make their chances pay with two goals.

Son Heung-min is said to be a summer target for Liverpool after excelling for Spurs in the Premier League last term.

And although he’s not got a vintage South Korean side around him – he’s still head and shoulders above the rest in Russia.

So what would Liverpool fans get if they were ever to prise him from Daniel Levy’s cool, dead hand?

Work rate, link up play, work rate, shooting boots, work rate and work rate. Oh, don’t forget work rate.

Young-gwon and Son Heung-min scored the crucial goals on the day and they will forever go down in South Korean football history.

Germany never had an answer for their organisation and a win was probably just about deserved for South Korea on the balance of play.
