Thailand,Iran off to high-flying start in the AFC Women’s Futsal Championship

Thailand set the opening day of the AFC Women’s Futsal Championship on fire thrashing minnows Macau 15-0 in their opening game at the Hua Mak Indoor Stadium.In a one-sided encounter, Thailand’s unrelenting attack started from the first minute when Sasicha Pohothiwong opened the scoring in the first minute itself.

Thailand’s quick passing, possession and clever interchange of position kept Macau holed up in their own half for major part of the game.It was eventually a goal feast as Sasicha Pohothiwong scored five goals followed by Darika Peanpailun’s three goals, as seven Thailand players registered their name on the scoresheet to complete the 15-0 decimation of Macau.Thailand now tops Group A, where a tough challenge from South-Asian rivals Indonesia awaits them in their next game.

Asian powerhouse Iran announced their arrival on the scene with a resounding 14-0 hammering of Turkmenistan in their opening game on Thursday.The defending champions opened the scoring with just seven-seconds into the game as Fatemeh Etedad opened the scoring signalling a long night for Turkmenistan.

The goals kept coming thick and fast as Iran dominated the possession spreading the attack and distributing the passes all around the pitch.Iran went into the break with an 8-0 lead as normal service resumed soon after the break as Fareshteh Karimi completed her hattrick three minutes into the second half.

Iran continued their domination deep into the game as goals from Arezoo Sadaghianizadeh, Sara Shirbeigi, Fatemeh Etedadi and Zarei in the second half subjected Turkmenistan to a 14-0 annihilation.
