Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim (TMJ) has praised the national U-22 team as the “assets to the country” after winning a silver medal at this year’s SEA Games.
“This is not the final journey… you are all young players. I am disappointed that we lost in the final, but I am proud to see what we have for the future,” the Crown Prince of Johor told the squad after the final, in a video posted by FAM on their Facebook fanpage.
“You are all assets to the country. Thank you for giving your best efforts at the SEA Games. Forget this loss, but use it as a lesson as we move on.”
Despite failing to be crown the SEA Games title after losing to Thailand, Ong Kim Swee and his players need to focus on more important targets, including AFC U23 Championship in China next January after their successful qualification in July.
