Lack of ‘vision or foresight’ from Chinese FA damages domestic football, says top official

Li Yuyi, vice chairman of the Chinese Football Association (CFA), blamed the lack of ‘vision or foresight’ from the ruling body on damaging the Chinese football.

“The reason Chinese football lags behind is mainly because the management of the Chinese Football Association is lagging behind,” he told CCTV.

“First, what needed to be done in 2017 was only assigned [to someone] in 2017. Without a budget, how can anything be done?

“Second, in our country, we go back and forth to report and discuss, which could take half a year. Like this there is no vision and foresight. Without these, how can anything be done?”

China national team are on a run of one win in eight games in the third qualifying round for 2018 World Cup, leaving them bottom of the group.

Although their hopes are getting dimmer, the world 77th-ranked team are still in a theoretical possibility of clinching a play-off spot if they can earn the wins over Uzbekistan and Qatar in the last two qualifiers and other results go their way.
