Edinson Cavani has made known his intention of wanting to leave Manchester United at the end of the season to follow up on a long-incubated ambition to join Barcelona, according to The Times.
The Uruguayan’s Old Trafford deal is up at the end of the season although The Times adds that he is curious to see how things would develop for United under the guidance of the new interim manager Ralf Rangnick.
Cavani has missed United’s last three matches having been hindered by a tendon injury in recent weeks and was also absent for Thursday’s encounter against Arsenal but Michael Carrick confirmed this week the striker is ‘back on the grass’ and ‘working outside with strength and conditioning coaches’.
Should Cavani choose to leave United at the end of the campaign, he will be available to join cash-strapped Barcelona as a free transfer.
