In Group H action of AFC Cup last night, Singapore’s Home United came back from a goal down to defeat Vietnam’s Than Quang Ninh. Song Ui-young would be the hero of the night, scoring a brace which included a late strike to give his side the three points.
The South Korean opened the scoring in just the third minute, but two quickfire goals in the 32nd and 40th minute from Patiyo Tambwe and Minh Tuan put the visitors in the lead.
Faris Ramli would score the equalizer 18 minutes later and consistent pressure in the second half led to the final goal from Song with just six minutes left before time.
The win sees Home United close in on Group H leaders Yadanarbon, who are just one point ahead.
Later in the day, Johor Darul Ta’zim crushed Global FC with a 4-0 victory at the Stadium Tan Sri Dato Haji Yunos in Malaysia.
Mahalli Jasuli netted the opener at the half hour mark, and just four minutes later, Safiq Rahim doubled the advantage from the penalty spot.
Substitute Brian Ferreira scored the third goal with a composed finish from close range near the end of time and defender Marcos Antonio sealed the deal with a fourth in the 92nd minute.
The thumping win sees Johor leapfrog Global FC to lead Group F, with seven points from their three games.
