Persib Bandung held on for their first 2024/25 AFC Champions League Two point in Group F, drawing 1-1 with Lion City Sailors on Thursday despite playing nearly the entire second half with 10 men. The match saw Dimas Drajad sent off in the 52nd minute for headbutting LCS captain Bailey Wright, shortly after Wright had equalized Tyronne del Pino’s 43rd-minute opener.
The game at the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Soreang, Bandung Regency, started lively, with LCS’ Maxime Lestienne testing Persib’s Kevin Ray Mendoza early on, while Tyronne found the side-netting for Persib soon after. However, both teams struggled to create clear chances as midfield battles dominated the half. Persib finally broke through in the 43rd minute when Dimas won possession and sent a through ball to Tyronne, who lobbed the goalkeeper from outside the box for a superb goal.
Four minutes into the second half, LCS leveled the score as Wright headed in Lestienne’s cross. Minutes later, Dimas was shown a red card following an altercation with Wright, leaving Persib with 10 men. LCS pushed to capitalize on their advantage, but missed chances, including a wayward shot from Song Ui-young and a close save by Izwan Mahbud against Ciro, ultimately cost them. A late red card for Lion City’s Bart Ramselaar ensured the match ended with both teams down to 10 players and sharing the points.
