Persik Thrashing Provide Bhayangkara with Survival Boost

A hat-trick from Matias Mier was the highlight of struggling Bhayangkara Presisi Indonesia FC’s huge 7-0 win over high-flying Persik Kediri in Tuesday night’s Liga 1 Indonesia match at the PTIK Stadium in South Jakarta, a result that bought more time for Bhayangkara’s fight against relegation.

Mier quickly netted the opening goal just one minute into the match, before the Uruguayan’s relentless pressure continued to trouble Persik’s defense. Another goal was secured in the 19th minute, solidifying Bhayangkara’s lead to 2-0.

Despite holding a two-goal advantage, Bhayangkara remained unsatisfied, while Persik struggled to find their footing in the game. Mier extended the lead further by scoring his third goal in the 50th minute, skillfully converting Radja Nainggolan’s short pass into a goal.

Three minutes later, Marcelo Herrera added his name to the scoreboard. In the 59th minute, Dendy Sulistyawan’s flawless execution deceived Persik goalkeeper Dikri Yusron, increasing the score to 5-0.

The Guardian managed to add two more goals in the remaining time of the match. Titan Agung scored in the 85th minute, followed by an own goal from Yusron in the 90+4th minute, securing Bhayangkara’s heavy 7-0 win over a poor Macan Putih.

Despite the victory, Bhayangkara’s position in the 17th place of the Liga 1 standings remained unchanged. However, the additional three points ensured that the Guardian are still alive in their fight against relegation.

Currently, Mier and his teammates have accumulated 23 points, trailing nine points behind the safety zone occupied by Persita Tangerang. Meanwhile, Persik remained stuck in sixth place with 46 points.

Persik head coach Marcelo Rospide issued an apology to the Macan Putih supporters after the match.

“I apologize to the Persik supporters. As a professional team, what was shown in this match is undoubtedly embarrassing,” stated Marcelo, as quoted from, “I believe there were many mistakes made by the players in this match. Many of them lost possession too frequently.”
