Reigning Indonesian champions PSM Makassar sealed their AFC Cup group stage spot in style after smashing Myanmar giants Yangon United 4-0 in Wednesday night’s qualifying play-off match at the Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium in Gianyar, Bali.
The last time Yangon United visited Bali, they pulled off a shock 3-1 win over hosts Bali United in the 2018 AFC Cup group stages, however a repeat of said upset was thrown off the table almost immediately after Adilson Silva gave PSM the lead in the 6th minute.
Everton Nascimento then doubled the Juku Eja‘s lead in the 30th minute, with PSM utterly dominating their opponents throughout the match.
The relentless onslaught on Yangon United’s defense continued in the second half, with Yakob Sayuri banging home a goal in the 50th minute, before 11 minutes later Adilson smashed home a spectacular shot that sealed the win for PSM.
PSM, who went all the way into the ASEAN Zonal final last season, will now join Bali United in representing Indonesia in this season’s AFC Cup group stages, and will discover who will they go up against in this Thursday’s group stage draw.
