Thailand U-23 once again notched a remarkable result in this year’s Doha Cup after the Changsuek youngsters stunned hosts Qatar U-23 1-0 on Saturday. Once again it was Jonathan Khemdee who became Thailand’s hero as his goal right at the end of the first half helped his team to a famous victory.
Khemdee, who played his club football at Ratchaburi FC, scored what turned out to be the decisive goal of the game with a well-taken penalty in the first minute of stoppage time.
The win extended Thailand’s unbeaten run in the 2023 Doha Cup, having tied 2-2 with reigning Asian U-23s champions Saudi Arabia on Wednesday in their first match of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Vietnam U-23, who were also participating in the Doha Cup, succumbed to their second consecutive defeat. The Golden Dragons were thrashed 4-0 by the United Arab Emirates U-23, which was the Emiratis’ second consecutive win in the tournament.
