PSS Sleman have announced the signing of legendary striker Boaz Solossa on a free transfer on Monday. The evergreen 36-year old striker had previously turned out for Borneo FC and it is hoped that he could become a pivotal mentor figure for PSS’ up-and-coming attacking talents.
“He came not only with a wealth of experience, but he’s also ready to guide the Super Elja‘s young guns!” said an announcement posted on PSS’ social media channels unveiling Boaz’s signing, “Welcome, legend!”
A figure synonymous with Persipura Jayapura, Boaz left the Mutiara Hitam for Borneo in the 2021/22 off-season, turning out 22 times and scoring three goals for the Pesut Etam. PSS will be Boaz’s third club in a long, eventful career that started off in 2004.
“Joining PSS is a brand new challenge for me. They have a passionate fanbase with excellent choreography,” Boaz said, as quoted from detikSport, “They also have many potential young players, players who contributed to their win over Borneo last season. They all have bright futures in front of them – the forwards and the wingers alike.”
“I hope that my presence in PSS won’t become a hindrance to these players’ developments,” Boaz continued, “I came here to share my knowledge with them and motivate them to become better, so that PSS could do even better than last year in the upcoming season.”
At PSS, Boaz will be joined by two other players from the far-flung island of Papua – defender Marckho Meraudje and winger Todd Rivaldo Ferre, with Boaz having played alongside the latter at Persipura.
