Persik Kediri are assembling themselves a formidable squad for the upcoming 2022/23 Liga 1 Indonesia season. Following the arrival of Riyatno Abiyoso, Arsyad Yusgiantoro, Kurniawan Kartika Ajie, Yohanes Pahabol and Renan Silva to the squad, the Macan Putih added more steel to their engine room with the arrival of Nepal international Rohit Chand from Persija Jakarta.
It did not take Rohit long to find a new club following his departure from Persija, where he had clocked up more than 100 league appearances. The fearless defensive midfielder was quickly snapped up by Persik, who announced his signing on Sunday.
With Persija, Rohit won a number of accolades, which include the 2018 Liga 1 title, the 2018 President’s Cup, the 2021 Menpora Cup, and being included in the best XIs of both the 2018 Liga 1 season and the 2021 Menpora Cup. He’s also the MVP of the 2018 Liga 1 season.
Interestingly, in Renan Silva, Persik also has the MVP of the 2019 Liga 1 season, with the Brazilian attacking midfielder having received the honor during his tenure at Borneo FC.
With the signings of Rohit and Renan, as well as the contract extension of Persik’s Brazilian defender Arthur Felix Silva, the Macan Putih have almost completed their foreign player roster for the 2022/23 season. One spot remains and Persik are being linked to both Uzbek midfielder Nodir Mavlonov or Brazilian striker Joanderson to fill in that final vacant slot.
