‘Fresh start’ awaiting Gareth Bale as Real Madrid winger chooses next step

32-year-old Welshman Gareth Bale has endured a slew of mixed fortunes since his blockbuster move to the Bernabeu in 2013, helping the club secure a remarkable four Champions League trophies in five years, although persistent injury issues have severely restricted his game time two seasons back.

A long-stewing falling-out with former boss Zinedine Zidane then saw Bale loaned out last season to former club Tottenham where, despite injuries once again limiting his playing time on the pitch for the earlier part of the campaign, he rose to the occasion after being handed a greater role by temporary boss Ryan Mason who replaced Jose Mourinho.

Superb displays at the recent Euro 2020 followed and Bale now has one year remaining on his current deal at Madrid and, as per Football Espana, the Welsh striker has decided to persevere, seeking a ‘fresh start’ at Real under returning manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian super coach was in charge when Bale was acquired by Real Madrid back in 2013. Hence, a greater role could be forthcoming under a manager who managed to get the best out of the forward.

Entering his final contracted year, a successful season would be the perfect opportunity to put himself in the shop window over a potentially lucrative free agent move next summer.
