‘Everyone wants the best for him’ – Mourinho reveals player has his full trust

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho affirms that Gareth Bale is the best expert on the condition of his own body after the 31-year-old was recently taken to task by the coach for breaking ranks to give a “totally wrong” impression about his fitness on social media, earning the displeasure of Mourinho.

The day before the FA Cup tie at Everton, Bale posted on Instagram that he had enjoyed a “good session” on the training pitch at Hotspur Way, which to Mourinho appeared like Bale made it look like he was fully fit for action at Goodison park when, in fact, he had told the manager he was not ready and instead decided to remain back in London to work with the club’s conditioning staff, according to the Daily Mail.

Speaking ahead of the match against Burnley at the Tottenham Stadium, Mourinho believes that given the Welshman’s experiences, he knows his body better than anyone else should, and the Portuguese insists that he trusts Bale’s judgement over his fitness and wants to find a way where he can feature on a regular basis.

He told Football.London:

“He is a player with a lot of experience and a player with a lot of experience they know their body better than anyone,”

“There is no coach, no fitness coach, no sports scientist, no medical staff that knows them better than a very experienced player, especially a player who had years of small problems, bigger problems, but situations that had have an had an influence and an impact on the past couple of years of his career.

“We trust him. We trust his experience and analysis, and everything with him is done with a great participation of everyone.

“Everyone wants the best for him because in the end the best for him is the best for Tottenham. So to have him and giving us important contributions is doing that bit by bit.

“Of course we want that in a more continuous way. Of course we have very important Premier League matches , a crucial final and crucial every minute of every game in the Europa League.

“So the more that we have Gareth, a player with his quality and confidence and experience and know-how of big moments, the better. So we have to be careful and trust a player with a lot of experience.”
