Manchester United are keen to revive their bid to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham and, as a deterrent, owner Daniel Levy has already slapped a huge price tag on the striker to ward off their interest in the hot striker .
Clearly Tottenham are not going to just sit back but are more than prepared to go the whole nine yards over not having to sell their star striker and England captain, Kane, and have henceforth set a mammoth price tag as a result.
It’s open knowledge Manchester United have been interested in the England international for many years now but the striker’s ironclad contract has always kept the Red Devils, and a number of other suitors, at bay.
However, in the wake of Spurs’ current struggles on the pitch, rival clubs sensing the turbulence are now on the prowl again – while Kane himself has a monumental decision to make.
The Spurs talisman turns 28 this summer and still has no trophies to show for all his efforts over the hears, something really incongruous considering his vast talents and proven skills.
Tottenham, on the other hand, are confident, albeit a tad smug about it, that he will be going nowhere as the striker is contracted until 2024.
To slam the gates shut, owner Daniel Levy still took precaution to slap a huge £150m price tag on the Chingford-born star, according to the Daily Mail as United would not need to think twice to take on his £200,000-a-week contract and even offer him bigger wages as inducement to join them.
So too can Manchester City, who have also not refrained from showing keen interest in Kane.
While Old Trafford’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is anxiously hunting for a striker with his search including Dortmund’s Erling Haaland besides the Tottenham frontman, Guardiola’s City are meanwhile also scanning the horizon for a No. 9 as their formidable frontman Sergio Aguero’s injuries are already catching up with him with the Argentine’s contract expiring in the summer.
Not least of all, Kane has been in perilous form this season despite Tottenham’s continued woes in the Premier League. The England captain has scored 21 times and assisted 14 in all competitions and is in for the PFA Player of the Year award, as well as the Golden Boot.
But personal accolades cannot be weighed on the same scale as the prestigious silverware that has so far eluded Kane’s career.
Hopefully that will soon change when Tottenham take on City in the Carabao Cup final in April this season.
