The Japanese-Messi joined The Yellow Submarine from Real Madrid on a season-long loan deal.
Takefusa Kubo spent the 2019-20 season on loan at RCD Mallorca, also in the Spanish top flight, where he made 35 appearances and registered 4 goals and 5 assists. However, his contributions were unable to keep Mallorca in the division, as they finished 19th on 33 points.
“I’ve spoken to [Unai Emery] about the team, but the manager hasn’t been here for very long so we’ve said we’ll get to know each other and the team,” said Kubo in his official unveiling. “It was a friendly conversation and as well as the manager, I’ve also spoken to some teammates today. So I hope that I’m going to adapt quicker than expected.”
Kubo is Villareal’s 3rd new midfielders announced this week, followed by Francis Coquelin and Dani Parejo who joined from Valencia. The 19 years old starlet and former La Masia academy graduate are regarded as one of La Liga’s brightest prospect. Paris Saint-Germain is rumoured to be keeping close tabs on Kubo and if the attacking midfielder continues to develop then Real Madrid might have a decision to make about Kubo’s future soon.
