Fulham Earn Promotion to Premier League

London club Fulham have earned promotion back to the Premier League over local rivals Brentford in the EFL Championship playoff final

A 2-1 win for the Cottagers in the playoff final against Brentford at Wembley sees them earn promotion from the EFL Championship this season, joining Leeds and West Brom in next years’ Premier League.

Managed by former player Scott Parker, the side have returned at the first attempt after going down at the end of the 2018-19 season.

Fulham dispatched Cardiff City in their first playoff match, while Brentford were able to find their way past Swansea after a second-leg comeback.

After a scoreless 90 minutes in what is dubbed as football’s richest game, Fulham struck twice in quick succession as a brace from left-back Joe Bryan essentially sealed the win.

Brentford stuck in stoppage time, courtesy of Henrik Dalsgaard, but the goal proved to be little consolation for the side which had been denied a maiden appearance in the Premier League.

With just over a month to prepare for the restart of the new Premier League season, it will be interesting to see how Fulham gear up for what could be an incredibly tough survival campaign.
