Later in 2018, you made the big decision to leave Muangthong after so many years there. Why did you make this decision?
When [Coach Radovan] Curcic came, he bought many assistants. I talked with many clubs, like Suphanburi, but when I finished with Muangthong I went to Ayutthaya first to be head coach. They had the playoff from T3 to T2, and we had two games against Narathiwat. I brought Ayutthaya to T2, but then I talked with Suphanburi and Coach Ban, and followed him there. (Continue 6:34)
After your time there, you came back to Ayutthaya again. What is about Ayutthaya that you like?
It’s because [Ayutthaya] is my home town. I was born in Ayutthaya, which is why it is easy for me to help them. I want to [bring] Ayutthaya up [in terms of] football. (or: “I want to put Ayutthaya more up about the football”). They have a good city, near Bangkok and everything. They have good fans also, who support [the team].
Has the club convinced you that their long-term plan is good?
Yes of course, but in football, you [can’t have] (don’t need?) a long contract because football can change every day. We coaches depend on the result. You could have a contract for six years, but if you lose five or six games you can’t stay in that contract. That is why I try my best for the good results. We don’t need to talk about five or six years.
But I like [to stay] with a club, like I did Muanghtong. When I was a player I also stayed with just one club. I [was at] Sinthana from when I was young, I stayed six years, and then I went to Singapore for five years. I don’t like to change many clubs, I’d [prefer] to stay longer. I will try my best to stay at Ayutthaya.
