The English Premier League is set to make its big return this evening, after its extended break due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
Both of tonight’s games will be postponed games from Matchday 28, while Matchday 30 is set to start this weekend.
The first match will see Aston Villa host Sheffield United. The visitors currently sit seventh and are just an arm’s length away from qualifying for European football next season.
A win tonight would see the Blades leap ahead of Wolves and Manchester United to nestle in fifth place behind Chelsea. Meanwhile, Villa are second from bottom and need a win to lift themselves out of the relegation zone.
Despite the intrigue of that fixture, the biggest game of the night will surely be Arsenal’s trip to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City.
This game will mark a return for Mikel Arteta, who was Pep Guardiola’s assistant at the Etihad until being appointed as manager of Arsenal earlier this season.
The student will be hoping for three points against the master in order to keep Arsenal’s hopes of qualifying for continental football alive, while the hosts’ main objective will be to retain their current place in the table, as the 25 point gap with leaders Liverpool is looking increasingly unsurmountable with just 10 games left to play.
