The War Elephants will face their final three opponents in World Cup Qualifying in October and November and may need a clean sweep of wins in order to advance to the next round.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has rescheduled the remaining fixtures of the 2022 World Cup Qualifying campaign, and Thailand now know when they will face the final “crunch matches” in Group G.
Indonesia will be the first opponents for the War Elephants, who they will face in a stand-alone match on October 8th against Indonesia. Their final trial will come in the form of an intense doubleheader the following month, when they have to travel to face the UAE on November 12th, before their final match at home against Malaysia on the 17th.
This decision now leaves the impetus with the schedulers of Thai domestic football, which is slated to restart in mid-September. It will be interesting to see how they integrate the Thai League schedule with Nishino’s request for ample preparation time with the players.
