Shenhua’s Ighalo Extends Manchester United Loan Deal

Shanghai Shenhua striker Odion Ighalo has extended his current loan deal at English Premier League giants Manchester United, which will now run until January 2021, according to official press releases and social media announcements by the club.

The Nigerian striker has been on loan at Manchester United from Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai Shenhua since the 31st of January to provide more cover in the Red Devils’ forward line.

Now 30 years old, Ighalo has plenty of Premier League experience after his three seasons with Watford. He managed 36 goals from 90 appearances in the English top-flight, netting an impressive 20 times in his debut campaign for the Hornets.

Despite coming out of left-field, the loan move has been a relative success for Manchester United thus far. Ighalo has scored 4 goals from 8 games in all competitions but is yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League since his return.

This loan extension will ensure Ighalo remains at the club for the remainder of the current season and into the next campaign as well.

The Premier League is set to resume on the 18th of June behind closed doors due to the current COVID-19 situation.
