Pahang Suffer Second Defeat, Melaka Win Consecutive Games

Pahang suffered a second straight defeat in Liga Super Malaysia as they lose 3-2 to PJ City, while Melaka climbed to the top of the table after beating PDRM 3-1 at home.

PJ City took the lead in the 12th minute through Demba Camara, but Pahang equalized in the 15th with Dickson Nwakaeme’s penalty kick.

Pahang managed to get ahead in the second half when Ivan Carlos scored with a brilliant strike in the 51st minute, but they were pegged back within ten minutes as PJ City equalized through R. Barathkumar.

With the game coming to an end, 21-year-old striker Kogileswaran surprised his former employers Pahang when he scored from a direct free-kick, earning his new club their first three points of the season.

This is Pahang’s second defeat after losing to Selangor in the opening game last week.

In another match, Malacca beat debt-ridden PDRM 3-1 at home.

The hosts took the lead through Uche Agba in the 17th minute. Melaka captain Safiq Rahim then stepped up to double the lead doubled the lead in the 71st minute.

The visitors tried to force their way back into the match, but Antonio German’s strike in the 81st minute proved to be a mere consolation. In the injury time, Melaka full-back Wan Amirul Afiq Wan Abdul Rahman silenced the opposition by scoring a wonderful long-distance goal from outside of the box to seal the points for the hosts. 

This is Melaka’s second win after beating UiTM last week, taking them to the top of the table ahead of Saturday’s matches.
