Mario Mandzukic Signs for Qatari Side Al Duhail

Former Bayern Munich, Juventus and Croatia international striker Mario Mandzukic has signed for Qatari side Al-Duhail.

Mandzukic arrives with an incredibly high profile, having starred for some of the world’s biggest clubs. His 33 goals from 54 appearances for Bayern Munich between 2012 and 2014 remains a high point of his career, where he also added a Champions League crown to his name.

The striker was also impressive during his time in Turin from 2015 to 2019, where he made 162 appearances for Juventus and scored 44 goals. Despite being deemed surplus to requirements this season, Mandzukic leaves behind a slate of cherished memories in Turin, including an incredible goal in a Champions League final against Real Madrid.

The forward will also join his former Juventus teammate Medhi Benatia, who joined Al Duhail at the start of 2019. The club are currently coached by Rui Faria, a long-time assistant to Jose Mourinho from his time with Uniao de Leiria in 2001 up until his recent stint with Manchester United, which ended in 2018.

After finishing second last season, Al Duhail currently sit top of the Qatari Stars League, as an unbeaten start to the season has seen them pick up 29 points from 11 games. The arrival of Mandzukic will only strengthen the team further and aid in their title charge.
