Muangthong United continue to cut their wage bill ahead of next season, and are set to sell long-time servant Sanukran Thinjom to Chiangrai United.
The 26-year-old midfielder has been at Muangthong since 2014 and has spent loan spells at Customs United, Thonburi City, Nonthaburi FC, and Army United during that time.
After struggling to break into the team in recent seasons, he was linked with a move to Suphanburi during the mid-season transfer window. However, the midfielder was given a new lease on life after his versatility was utilized by new coach Alexandre Gama.
Speculation of a departure began during the last game of the season, as he was left out of the squad when Muangthong traveled to Trat FC.
Sanukran becomes the latest addition in what appears to be a rather lackluster transfer window for the 2019 Champions. The side made headlines by signing lethal Brazilian forward Ibson Melo from Samut Prakan City, but their recent managerial appointment and slow recruitment of local players have fans wondering whether the side will be able to bankroll a meaningful title defense.
