On Tuesday, Jupiler Pro League side, Sint-Truidense V.V. (STVV) terminated its contract with the manager, Marc Brys. It happened a day after the team’s defeat to R. Charleroi S.C. at home, which led the Japanese-owned club to drop to 11th.
STVV shared the news through its official website stating, “We have decided to put an end in our relationship with manager Brys and his staff. We appreciate their effort and wish the best of luck for their future endeavors.
“The board has decided to stop working with manager Brys after our lose to Sporting Charleroi during the 15th round of the Jupiler Pro League.”
This was the 57-year-old Belgian manager’s second season with STVV after his appointment in 2018. He led the team to 7th on his first season however, the owner was reportedly unhappy with Brys’ player selection which often excluded the Asian players in the team.
2018 Asian Games gold medalist, Lee Seung-woo is one of the exclusions under Brys’ regime. After moving to the Belgian side from Hellas Verona F.C., the forward has not been fielded a single second.
STVV travels to face 9th place, K.R.C. Genk this Sunday. In the meantime, Nicky Hayen will take over the role as the interim head coach.
