Iraq-Iran relocated to Jordan

Iraq Football Federation Abdul Khaliq Masood admitted that his country will face Iran and Bahrain in Jordan after FIFA and AFC ask them to relocate the matches.

After recent political tensions in Iraq that increased security concerns for upcoming matches against Iran and Bahrain, finally FIFA and AFC issued a joint statement on Wednesday and asked Iraq Football Federation to find a neutral venue for these matches.

FIFA and AFC said in the statement:” Following an assessment of the current security situation in Iraq, FIFA and the AFC have informed the Iraqi Football Association that the country’s upcoming FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Asian Qualifiers against IR Iran and Bahrain, which were scheduled to be hosted in Iraq on 14 and 19 November respectively, must be played on neutral ground.”

And Today, Abdul Khaliq Masood announced that these two matches will play in Jordan.

“We officially asked Jordan Football Federation to hold these two matches regarding vicinity, public support and visa-free travel. We also hope Iraqi fans support us there.” He said to DW.
