World Cup Qualifying Preview – Indonesia vs Vietnam

Vietnam are looking to keep pace with Thailand and the UAE in the hunt for qualification. Meanwhile, Indonesia are still in search of their first point of the campaign. Today, Football Tribe’s Tran Tien and Steven Danis preview today’s game:

After their third consecutive loss, obviously Indonesia needs to get at least a point from what is already the last game for the first half of this qualification round. This is the last home game of 2019 and the Garuda would like a win to put a bad year behind them. The team is also playing for the first time on our history in Bali island, and they will be hoping that the new environment gives them a boost.

Facing the 2018 AFF champions and 2019 AFC Asian Cup quarterfinalists, expectations will be low. However, Vietnam haven’t been excellent in away games this year, so we still have a little chance to spring a surprise and keep the Group G battle still on fire.

Beto Goncalves – Striker- Age 38 – Madura United: The Brazilian-born naturalized striker is the main goal poacher for Garuda, yet he isn’t scored after the first game against Malaysia. The supporters need his goals, but we know he struggled a lot on the field. So Simon must examine – is the problem with him, or with our team’s strategies? Are other players not able to cooperate with him? Because after him, there are a lot of strikers that Indonesia have.

The best we can hope for is a draw result. Vietnam might be the best team in SEA right now so if we can handle it, I think we had a little chance to play better on the second half which starts with an away game against Malaysia next month.
