Big Sides Progress to Malaysia Cup Quarter Final

Selangor defeated Felda United to top the table of Group D in the Malaysia Cup. It was an outstanding performance by Khyril Muhyemeen Zambri, who scored a thunderous header goal keep Selangor flying high. Top striker Ifedayo also continued his goal-scoring run with another goal. The victory means Selangor will face Perak in the quarter-finals.

In the other match, Perak were held to a 1-1 draw at Sabah after Maxsius Musa cancelled out Perak early goal, by Ronaldo. However, even if Perak had won the match, they would be unable to unseat Pahang as group leaders, as they collected the maximum number of points available. 

Terengganu confirmed their spot as they beat PKNS 2-0 at Shah Alam Stadium. Although both teams needed to play in bad weather (haze), but The Turtles did not take too long to score two quick goals through Sanjar Shaakhmedov and Tchetche Kipre. The three points collected mean that they will now face Super League Champions Johor Darul Ta’zim in the next round. 

Melaka United secured their place after getting a point against PDRM. Former national captain, Safiq Rahim scored from the spot to equalize after his side went behind. Another Melaka United goal was scored by Luka Milunovic while both PDRM’s goals came through Uche Agba and Fakrul Aiman. Melaka United will entertain Pahang as they were in second place of Group D.
